Generations

We have had a really busy couple of weeks with Easter and then grandpa "apa" came to visit his new grandson and Rayna. We had a great time with family and got to see the kid's great grandparents along with aunts and uncles. Owen is growing like crazy and is really really big! He is getting so cute and starting to belly laugh and smiles a lot. We are definately figuring out a pattern for him and he is more predictable now and doesn't cry nearly as much. Rayna just got a big girl haircut and new sandals for the summer. She would live outside if we let her and loves to find rocks, twigs, and loves sidewalk chalk. She can finally ride her bike fairly well and loves to play at the park. Jon and I and the kids took grandpa apa down to Faribault to see family on Monday and stopped at Famous Dave's on the way for lunch. When we got out of the parking lot, there was a funny sound on the van and we found out that we had a flat tire. It's funny how things happen...it was a beautiful day, we had just had a great lunch..the kids were doing good, and it would have been really easy to start to complain. Instead, we started talking about how God had saved us from an even further inconvenience rather than grumbling about the circumstance. We thought about the flat tire happening on the freeway, or late at night when Jon and I were traveling back in the dark. As it was, Rayna got out of the van and got to pick up rocks for an hour, which she loved, and Owen just slept in the van. It was a life lesson for me, a reminder, that sometimes things happen for a reason, and even though we may not understand them, we need to thinking and thanking God for keeping us and knowing that there may have been something that could have been worse. If it's as simple as a flat tire or a major life crisis. There is a reason...the Bible gives us Jesus's promise that he will never leave us nor forsake us. Have a blessed day!
